We reproduce and summarise such material under the "fair dealing" provisions of the Copyright Act 1994 for the purposes of news reporting, criticism, review, and public information. Party names and logos are used for identification only and do not imply any endorsement by, or affiliation with, those parties. If you own material used on this site and believe it has been used incorrectly, please contact us and we will review it promptly.

Electoral Law & Election Day

This website is intended to be a neutral, factual public-information platform and is not designed to encourage or persuade anyone to vote for or against any party or candidate. We aim to operate within New Zealand electoral law, including the Electoral Act 1993.

If any part of this website is treated as an "election advertisement" under the Electoral Act, the law requires a promoter statement showing the promoter's name and a physical street address (a PO Box, email, or website address alone is not sufficient). Where required, that statement will be displayed on this site.

On election day (7 November 2026), New Zealand law restricts the publication of material that could influence voters. On that day we will not publish new promises, ratings, or commentary, and voting features may be paused. Existing information already on the site remains available to visitors who choose to access it, consistent with the Electoral Commission's guidance.

Corrections, Complaints & Right of Reply

We aim to report accurately and fairly, distinguishing factual statements (drawn from cited sources) from opinion and from user ratings. If you are a party, candidate, or member of the public and believe something on this site is inaccurate, unfair, or out of date, contact us via the Contact page. We will review the matter promptly and correct, update, or remove content where appropriate, and offer a reasonable right of reply.

User-submitted content (including votes and any future comments) that is unlawful, harmful, defamatory, or in breach of the Harmful Digital Communications Act 2015 may be removed, and accounts may be suspended. You can report such content to us via the Contact page.

Privacy Policy

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, we are transparent about how we handle personal information.

What we collect

• Account information (email address) if you register
• Profile details you choose to give us when you sign up — such as your name, city/region, age group, gender, and whether you have voted before or plan to vote. These are optional, kept private, and used only to show anonymous, aggregated trends — never shown against you.
• Your votes (see how voting works, below)
• Usage analytics: the pages you view, how you arrived (for example a search engine, social media, or a campaign link), your device, browser and operating system, and your approximate location (city/region derived from your IP address — we do not store the raw IP). This is linked to a random per-device identifier and, if you sign up, to your account, so we can understand our audience and improve the site.

How voting works and why it stays anonymous

You can cast your first couple of votes without signing in — those are saved only on your own device (in your browser's local storage), not on our servers. To keep voting and have your votes counted in the public tallies, you create a free account; the votes already on your device are then saved to your account.

Each vote is stored against your account so that each person gets one vote per item, and so we can suggest other promises and questions you might care about. For each vote we store the item, your choice (agree or disagree), the date, and your account identifier. We do not store your IP address or a browser fingerprint with your votes.

Your votes stay anonymous in public. We only ever publish aggregated tallies (total agree/disagree counts per item). We never show, publish, or expose through any API how any individual voted — a vote is linked to your account only so that you vote once, never to display it against your name.

Why we collect it

Data retention

• Account & profile data: retained while your account is active; deleted on request
• Vote data: linked to your account and retained while your account is active; only ever reported in aggregate
• Usage analytics: retained to understand trends over time; you can request deletion of analytics linked to you

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us via the Contact page. We will respond as soon as reasonably practicable and within the timeframes set by the Act.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal information, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz). In the event of a privacy breach that could cause serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Privacy Commissioner as required by the Act.

Cookies & analytics

We run our own first-party analytics — the data stays with us; we do not use advertising trackers and we never sell personal information. We record the usage analytics described above to understand who our audience is, how people find us, and which content matters to them, and (for signed-in users) to send relevant questions to vote on. We may also use a privacy-friendly analytics service (Matomo, run in a cookie-free configuration) for aggregate statistics. Any cookies used are limited to those needed to run the site and remember your preferences; you can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can request deletion of your data via the Contact page.

Service providers

We use trusted providers to run the site: hosting (Vercel), our database and secure sign-in (Supabase), email delivery (Resend), and anti-spam checks on our forms (Cloudflare Turnstile). If we enable Matomo Cloud for aggregate analytics, it acts as a provider too. They process information only to provide these services to us, not for their own purposes.

We aim to make this website usable for everyone and to follow recognised accessibility guidelines (WCAG). If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please let us know via the Contact page and we will do our best to help.
